Austin, Minnesota - Cooperative Response Center, Inc. (CRC) celebrated the grand opening of its new southwest regional contact center in Abilene, Texas, with a ribbon cutting and open house on Friday, September 23. The contact center is the third CRC contact center to open since 1992, offering call handling for organizations in the utility industry.
Chris Holt, CRC’s Interim President and CEO, led the ceremony thanking CRC’s Board of Directors, its employees, and Abilene officials for their support and assistance in opening the new office.
“This contact center continues CRC’s commitment to our membership,” said Holt. “CRC’s new office in Abilene is a great complement to our Minnesota and Tennessee offices, fulfilling an essential need in the utility industry.”
Holt also mentioned the importance of Abilene in the success of CRC’s newest regional office. “Abilene was more than welcoming to CRC as we searched for the best location for our office. CRC found a good match with Abilene and is excited to further experience the talent that Abilene has to offer.”
CRC’s board chairwoman, Brenda Swartzlander, President and CEO of United Electric Cooperative in DuBois, Pennsylvania, and Richard Burdine, President of the Development Council of Abilene, also spoke at the ribbon cutting.
Earlier this year, 30 employees were hired in Abilene and trained as customer service representatives (CSRs) to take inbound calls from mostly rural electric cooperatives. The center, located at 2 Village Drive in Abilene, houses mostly bilingual agents to handle calls during the day and evening hours. CRC’s other contact centers take calls 24 hours a day.
